Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota is now using the email domain @SarasotaFL.Gov. The Information Technology Department recently migrated all City of Sarasota email addresses to @SarasotaFL.Gov to leverage technology efficiencies and prepare for future system upgrades.

“Individuals, especially those who email City of Sarasota employees regularly, should be aware of the change,” said Herminio Rodriguez, Information Technology Director. “This email-domain-noticewas a planned, coordinated migration which the IT team worked on diligently. It’s important for the public to know this is a sanctioned move by the City of Sarasota and the new domain should be whitelisted.”

The new email domain features @SarasotaFL.Gov (not case sensitive). For example, the standard email address now is:  Firstname.Lastname@SarasotaFL.Gov

Initially, some email servers may not recognize the new email domain and send emails from the City of Sarasota to a spam folder. Those emails should be deemed safe by the user and forwarded to the appropriate inbox.

Every email address throughout every department is affected – approximately 1,000 addresses – including: City Commissioners, City Manager, City Attorney, City Auditor & Clerk, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Neighborhood & Development Services, Parks & Recreation, Public Works, Sarasota Police Department, Utilities, and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.

The City migrated to a “.Gov” domain, which is intended to be used by government entities.  City employees will continue to receive email via the old domain.
