The Department of Neighborhood and Development Services is comprised of the Divisions listed below. Our collective mission is to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens by enforcing building, zoning, housing and other City codes. The Department works with communities and public agencies alike to preserve and shape a safe, vital, and well planned urban environment.
Housing & Community Development Division is a cooperative effort of the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County governments and serves residents throughout Sarasota County including the cities of Sarasota, Venice, and North Port.		Parking Management Division provides enforcement and collections for the City of Sarasota which entails management and operation of off-street parking lots, on-street spaces and the development and planning of public parking structures.

Neighborhoods, Redevelopment and Special Projects Division provides services in the areas of; Downtown Redevelopment; Historic Preservation, Neighborhoods, Public Art and Traffic/Transportation Planning		Planning, Development and Zoning Division provides services in the area of; Building Permits, Code Compliance, Local Business Tax Receipt, Planning and Zoning.

North Sarasota/Newtown Redevelopment Division works with the community to manage redevelopment opportunities, and provide assistance with economic revitalization in this Enterprise Zone.
