Welcome to the City of Sarasota Accounting Department's Web site. The Accounting Department is responsible for accurate accounting of financial transactions and reporting of financial data for the City. The division is responsible for providing accounting internal controls, and working in cooperation with the external and internal auditors.

The division maintains records for all city-owned capital assets, and also plans and directs the annual physical inventory of capital assets as required by the Auditor General of the State of Florida.

The Accounting Department pays all invoices and maintains the accounting records of the City as well as processing the Payroll for all City Employees. The City of Sarasota operates on a fiscal year that begins with October 1 of each year and ends the following September 30th.
